HC Deb 09 December 1980 vol 995 c340W
Mr. Tom Benyon

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what was the total bill for telephone usage for the British Army of the Rhine in the last completed accounting period.

Mr. Hayhoe

Precise figures are not available, but is is estimated that the telephone element of total communications costs for the British Army of the Rhine for the latest accounting period, covering 1 April to 31 October 1980, is some £2,150,000. The attention of all staff has recently been drawn to the expense of telecommunications and to ways of making economies.
