HC Deb 04 December 1980 vol 995 c142W
Mr. Kilfedder

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what is the difference between the terms "British Made" and "Made in Britain" stamped on products; and whether either term is applicable to goods made anywhere in the British Isles.

Mrs. Sally Oppenheim

In my view, both terms have the same meaning and—though this would, of course, ultimately be a matter for the courts to decide—may be applied to products made anywhere within the United Kingdom.
