HC Deb 02 December 1980 vol 995 c140W
Mr. Homewood

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many employees made redundant by the closure of the iron and steel works at Corby have access to readaptation payments from the ECSC; through which companies this applies; and how many employees in each are affected.

Mr. Michael Marshall

In addition to the British Steel Corporation's own employees, ECSC funds allocated to readaptation benefits for those made redundant by the closure of iron and steelmaking at Corby include provision for 200 employees of Shanks and McEwan. These men were employed at the BSC Corby site on activities covered by the ECSC Treaty.
