HL Deb 02 December 1980 vol 415 c384WA
Lord Brockway

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What progress has been made in the United Nations-sponsored negotiations for a settlement between the Government of Cyprus and representatives of the Turkish community.

The Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs (Lord Carrington)

As my noble friend Lord Trefgarne said on 22nd October, the talks are held in private. The fact that they continue is itself encouraging. The third round of discussion of the four agenda items is now in progress, and I understand that the atmosphere remains good.
