§ Dr. BoysonResponsibility for governmental oversight of the pay and conditions of service of teachers employed in Wales as well as in England rests with my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Education and Science. This does not preclude the submission, through appropriate channels, of collective representations specifically on behalf of teachers employed by local education authorities in Wales. The possible reform of the Remuneration of Teachers Act 1965 is under discussion between my right hon. and learned Friend and the local authority associations, which represent Welsh as well as English local authorities.
