§ Mr. Hudson Daviesasked the Minister of Transport whether any lane closures on the Severn bridge are contemplated during August and September 1980.
§ Mr. FowlerAs announced in May, engineering work on the bridge to replace a number of hangers will be taking place in August and September. This will require the temporary closing of one lane at off-peak periods during the day and night when weather conditions are suitable.
Opportunity will be taken during these closures to carry out the autumn insection of the carriageway surface, although a minmum number of additional one-lane closures may be necessary. These lane closures will be planned to keep interference with traffic flow to a minimum.
