There is no question of the cash limit for the 1980 –81 rate support grant settlement being increased to meet these awards. In so far as the awards, taken together with the 18.2 per cent. award agreed earlier this year by the Burnham committees, exceed the provision made by individual local education authorities they will, in the Government's view, have to be met by corresponding reductions in expenditure.
