HC Deb 08 August 1980 vol 990 cc356-7W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list in the Official Report (a) the sites in the East Flint constituency where advance factory building is taking place under the auspices of the Welsh Development Agency and local authorities, (b) the numbers and size of advance factories, (c) what firms are allocated to the advance factories being built with an estimate of the number of jobs likely to be created and (d) where in the East Flint constituency private development of advance factories on industrial estates is taking place or is scheduled to take place; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

The WDA has the following sites: Engineer Park, Sandy-croft; Deeside industrial park and Manor Farm industrial estate, Bagillt. Details of WDA advance factories either under construction or planned are:

Engineer Park

  • 6 x 3,000 sq. ft.
  • 4 x 5,000 sq. ft.
  • 2 x 10,000 sq. ft.

Deeside Industrial Park

  • 4 x 3,000 sq. ft.
  • 4 x 6,000 sq. ft.
  • 4 x 10,000 sq. ft.
  • 3 x 25,000 sq. ft.
  • 1 x 50,000 sq. ft.

Manor Farm Industrial Estate

  • 14 x 1,500 sq. ft.
  • 10 x 3,000 sq. ft.
  • 6 x 5,000 sq. ft.

These figures do not include the additional programme of 140,000 sq. ft. for Deeside industrial park and 30,000 sq. ft. for Manor Farm that I announced on 30 June—[Vol. 987, c. 1059–1061 and 1063]—details of which have still to be finalised.

Of the above, four factories totalling 63,000 sq. ft. and promising over 200 jobs have already been allocated.

Details of local authority and private sector sites and building programmes are not readily available.
