HC Deb 08 August 1980 vol 990 c509W
Miss Fookes

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many endangered species require an import licence.

Mr. Monro

All species listed by the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora as endangered or vulnerable require an import licence issued by the Secretary of State for the Environment in accordance with the Endangered Species (Import and Export) Act 1976. In addition, most other species of wild animal and bird and many of their parts and derivatives are subject to licensing under the Act.
