Notes:
a. No figures are available of students offered places. The PGCE figures given in Col (3) represent the number of applications withdrawn or left unplaced in 1979. The unplaced element is very small; the total number of applications left unplaced for Maths and Science together (including biological and other sciences) was 69.
b. 1980 was the first year in which applications for BEd have been analysed by subject specialism.
c. In addition to applications for BEd CDT courses (208) there were 115 applications for one year certificate courses in craft, design and technology for holders of specialist qualifications (eg HND).
d. Includes students taking PGCE in applied science.
