Miss Wright

asked the Lord Privy Seal how many staff were employed in interviewing applicants for entry certificates at Delhi on 1 June 1979, 1 December 1979 and 1 June of the current year; and how many applicants were interviewed on average each working day.

Mr. Luce

On the days—or nearest working days—in question, respectively, four, three and three entry clearance officers assisted by equal numbers of interpreters interviewed applicants for entry clearance. A total of 8, 3 and 9 applicants for settlement or eventual settlement and 27, 18 and 11 applicants for temporary stay were seen.
