HC Deb 06 August 1980 vol 990 cc187-8W
Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many employees of the Harlow development corporation have been offered employment with the new towns Commission upon the termination of their engagements; how many have been offered employment by other public employers; and what is the situation with regard to the residue.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

I understand that 72 employees of Harlow development corporation have been offered employment by the Commission for the New Towns. I have no information about what offers of employment may have been made to other employees by public bodies or private employers.

Mr. Newens

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what provisions will exist to ensure local access to members of the new towns Commission following the wind-up of the Harlow development corporation; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

This is a matter for the commission to decide.
