HC Deb 06 August 1980 vol 990 cc159-60W
Mr. Faulds

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, bearing in mind his written answers to the hon. Member for Warley, East, Official Report, 7 November 1979, c. 182, Official Report, 27 November 1979, c. 625–26 and Official Report, 7 May, c. 137–38, and in view of certain omissions and inaccuracies in the Treasury memorandum issued in 1977 and entitled "Capital Taxation and the National Heritage", he will make available to appropriate bodies and persons the draft which is being prepared of the revised and up-to-date version of that memorandum, so that an opportunity is provided for due consideraton of any comments which such bodies or persons might wish to make before its definitive issue.

Mr. Peter Rees

[pursuant to his reply, 31 July 1980, c. 811]: The comments made by a wide range of organisations and individuals on the memorandum have been taken into account in preparing the revision. In addition, a number of organisations and individuals closely concerned with the national heritage have been given the opportunity of comment- ing on the draft revision and in the light of these comments further improvements to the presentation of the memorandum have been made. It would be both costly and time-consuming to circulate copies of the revised document more widely for further comments.
