Mr. McCusker

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons have been convicted in Northern Ireland for membership of a proscribed organisation under the Northern Ireland (Emergency Provisions) Acts 1973 and 1978; and in how many cases a custodial sentence was imposed.

The available information, which is in terms of persons convicted where membership of an illegal organisation was the most serious offence or that for which the longest sentence was imposed, is as follows:
