Mr. Gwilym Robertsasked the Sec retary of State for Employment if he will initiate a study of the high levels of un employment in areas such as South Staffordshire which border major conurbations, such as the West Midlands; and if he will take steps to reduce the un employment problems of these border areas.
§ Mr. Jim LesterThe Government are very much aware of the unemployment problems of areas such as South Staffordshire. Our policies to encourage the expansion of economic activity, and thereby the creation of new jobs, will benefit these border areas as well as the neighbouring conurbations.
