§ Mr. Farrasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will seek to establish a Water Consultative Council on similar lines to the gas and electricity consultative councils.
§ Mr. FoxThe situation in the water industry is different, in that a majority of the members of water authorities are appointed by local authorities and this should help to ensure that they are aware of and responsive to local views. However, the future of nationalised industry consumer bodies is under review and the position of the water industry will be considered in relation to that review.
