HC Deb 14 April 1980 vol 982 c493W
Mr. Best

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what research has been carried out by his Department on the fuel economy which would be achieved by the introduction of tyre pressure equalising devices for vehicles with twin rear wheels.

Mr. David Mitchell

To the best of our knowledge, any saving in fuel arising from the use of tyre-pressure equalising valves would be negligible. The Department has not carried out any research on these valves in the context of fuel economy and knows of no work carried out by private industry.
