HL Deb 03 April 1980 vol 407 c1482WA
Lord AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are satisfied that passengers who are refused entry to the United Kingdom on the advice of port medical officers are given adequate opportunities of obtaining independent medical advice; whether they now agree that in the recent case of Mrs. Bhagan, taken up with the Minister of State's office, it was established that she was not suffering from pulmonary tuberculosis as alleged by a port medical officer, and whether they will draw this case to the attention of Sir Henry Yellowlees.

Lord BELSTEAD

The case referred to is still under consideration. My honourable friend will write to the noble Lord as soon as possible.

House adjourned at three minutes before twelve o'clock mid-day until Monday, 14th April next.
