HC Deb 02 April 1980 vol 982 c276W
Mr. Dudley Smith

asked the Minister of Transport what effect the revised assumptions of economic growth, ranging from 0.5 per cent. to 2.5 per cent. per annum in the period 1979 to 1990, and used for calculation of the revised lorry traffic forecasts submitted in evidence by his Department to the Armitage inquiry, would have on the official car ownership and car traffic forecasts; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Kenneth Clarke

The lorry traffic forecasts supplied to the Armitage inquiry, in response to its request for up-to-date information, were on a provisional basis. Our work has progressed since then, and I hope to complete my review of both our car and lorry traffic forecasts not long after the Easter Recess, in the light of consultations with the standing advisory committee on trunk road assessment. I would he grateful if my hon. Friend would await the out-come.
