Mr. George Robertson

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services when first he put into effect the Supplementary Benefits Commission's advisory rent limit; and what was that limit.

There is no advisory rent limit in the supplementary benefit scheme. The Supplementary Benefits Commission is required to meet rents to such amount as is reasonable in the circumstances.
