§ Mr. Geoffrey Johnson Smithasked the Prime Minister whether she has received any further recommendations from the Doctors' and Dentists' Review Body since accepting its ninth report on 5 June 1979.
§ The Prime MinisterFollowing a joint submission of evidence by the health Departments and the professions to the Review Body, the Government have accepted a supplement to the ninth report, a copy of which has been placed in the Library of the House. These new recommendations, which will be implemented as soon as possible, propose that the amounts previously allocated for separate fees and allowances for out-of-hours work for consultants and community physicians should be reabsorbed into their basic salary scales with effect from 1 April 1979. The changes involve no extra cost. Other adjustments are recommended where these are necessary to maintain appropriate relationships in the remuneration of practitioners.
