HL Deb 29 November 1979 vol 403 c566WA
Lord PLANT

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they propose to improve the car mileage allowance for members of public authorities and bodies which was last fixed at 13.7 pence per mile on 31st January 1978, in view of the increase of the top car mileage allowance for the Civil Service (and associated bodies) to 18.7 pence per mile as from 1st May, 1979.

Lord MOWBRAY and STOURTON

My right honourable friend the Secretary of State for the Environment is currently reviewing the rates of travelling and subsistence allowances paid to members of local authorities and water authorities, and hopes to make his conclusions known very shortly. I will write to the noble Lord when this has been done.

House adjourned at eleven minutes past seven o'clock.
