HC Deb 19 November 1979 vol 974 c62W
Mr. Heddle

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will examine the practice of certain insurance companies of levying a higher rate of premium from motor car owners resident in different postal areas but resident in the same county area.

Mr. Eyre

We do not control the terms and conditions upon which insurers underwrite particular risks. The insurers alone have the detailed information to decide whether drivers who insure with them and reside in a particular area should pay higher or lower premiums than drivers in adjoining or other areas. Nevertheless, if my hon. Friend has a particular case in mind and lets me have the details, I would be prepared to look into it.
