Mr. Ernie Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will name the local authorities in Scotland which have decided to add fluoride to their drinking water supply and those which have decided against.

Mr. Rifkind

All 15 health boards in Scotland have recommended fluoridation of water supplies by water authorities. Strathclyde regional council has decided to commence fluoridation. Dumfries and Galloway regional council has continued two existing schemes.

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will publish a summary of the most recent research which compares the level of dental health in areas of Scotland with fluoridated drinking water and those without.
