HC Deb 19 November 1979 vol 974 c62W
Mr. Michael Brown

asked the Secretary of State for Trade what steps are taken to encourage competition between British airlines.

Mr. Tebbit

It is already open to any British airline to apply to the Civil Aviation Authority for a licence to begin a service on any route on which it thinks that it can operate successfully. I hope that the new Civil Aviation Bill will help to create the conditions in which sensible competition can flourish.
