HC Deb 12 November 1979 vol 973 cc442-3W
Mr. Rowlands

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what estimate he has made of the reduction of jobs (a) in the Welsh Office, (b) in other Government department's in Wales and (c) in local government in Wales as a result of the Government's proposed cuts in public expenditure and staff.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

No decision has yet been taken on the level of Civil Service manpower after this financial year. I am not yet in a position to assess the likely response of Welsh local authorities to the Government's call for reduced staffing levels.
