§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Scotland what funds are being allocated during the current financial year for the provision of geriatric hospital accommodation; and what plans he has for the coming financial year.
§ Mr. FairgrieveCapital expenditure allocations to health boards do not specify particular areas of expenditure by specialty. However, having regard to the474W scale of geriatric and psychogeriatric provision incorporated in the centrally financed major capital programme, overall expenditure on geriatric and psycho-geriatric beds is believed to be of the order of £12 million a year at present. A similar position should obtain in the coming financial year.
§ Mr. Craigenasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will discuss with Greater Glasgow health board the shortage of hospital accommodation for acute geriatric cases.
§ Mr. Fairgrieve270 beds are being provided in 30-bed system-built units at a number of Glasgow hospitals, and a further 360 beds in all are planned for Belvidere, Gartnavel and Ruthergien hospitals. I have no plans to meet the board at present.
