§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Secretary of State for Trade what plans he has for containing rises in food prices over the next 12 months.
§ Mr. ParkinsonI refer the hon. Member to the answer which my right hon. Friend gave in the House on 21 May to the hon. Member for Wolverhampton North-East (Mrs. Short). The Government believe that prices in general are best contained by the operation of firm monetary and fiscal policies and by the strengthening of competition policy.
