Mr. John Grant

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) if he will now agree to link increases in pensions to increases in earnings or prices, whichever is the higher;

(2) asked if he will link invalidity pension, invalid care allowance and mobility allowance increases to increases in earnings or prices, whichever is the higher.

Mr. Field

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if the Government intend to compensate those on social security benefits for cuts in their living standards resulting from the switch from direct to indirect taxation.
