HL Deb 22 May 1979 vol 400 cc432-3WA
Lord VAIZEY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How much extra revenue it is estimated would be gained by substituting a 20p entrance fee for the 1p at present charged for entry to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.

Earl FERRERS

The total number of visitors to the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, is annually about 1,200,000 and total entrance receipts are currently about £12,000. It is estimated that, allowing for some consequential fall in the number of visitors, an increase in the entrance fee to 20p would produce additional revenue of about £200,000.
