How many civil servants were employed, at the latest date for which figures are available, in (a) the Scottish Office and (b) as warders, nurses, and other staff in the Prison Service in Scotland and the State Hospital, Carstairs.
§ The MINISTER of STATE, SCOTTISH OFFICE (The Earl of Mansfield)On 1st April 1979, 10,947 staff were employed in the Scottish Office, of whom 2,582 were employed in the Prison Service and 360 in the State Hospital, Carstairs.
