HC Deb 27 March 1979 vol 965 c159W
Mrs. Bain

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list in the Official Report the numbers of additional students re-routed to Notre Dame and Hamilton following the introduction of emergency training courses in February and March; and if he will make a statement as to the reasoning which underlay the implementation of these courses.

Mr. Milan

The total numbers of students admitted to the additional one-year postgraduate courses of secondary teacher training being provided as an exceptional measure at Notre Dame and Hamilton Colleges of Education are 78 and 36, respectively. The decision to provide the courses was taken in the light of Strathclyde regional council's estimates of its staffing needs for next session.
