HC Deb 27 March 1979 vol 965 cc122-3W
Mr. Lee

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he is satisfied with the present state of the law concerning the offence of living on immoral earnings, mindful of the fact that, contrary to the general tradition of English criminal law, the burden of proof is placed substantially upon the accused person and that the degree of pecuniary involvement need be no more than nominal for the offence to be made out.

Mr. John

The Criminal Law Revision Committee will be looking at the law on prostitution as part of the review of sexual offences which it is undertaking in consultation with the Policy Advisory Committee on Sexual Offences. It would be premature to contemplate changes in the law before the committees have reported.
