HC Deb 23 March 1979 vol 964 cc140-1W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland when traffic wardens in Northern Ireland last received a rise in pay; when the present rates were agreed; and when the wardens actually received payment of the sums agreed.

Mr. Pendry

Mr. Pendry

On 9 March 1979, 109 wardens were in post in Northern Ireland and there were 41 vacancies. During the last 12 months, 175 applications for posts as traffic wardens were received.

Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many awards and honours have been given to traffic wardens for acts carried out in the course of their duties in Northern Ireland.

Mr. Pendry

None.
