HC Deb 23 March 1979 vol 964 cc204-5W
Mr. Skeet

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what use has been made of the provisions of the Energy Act 1976 with powers in relation to petroleum products.

Dr. John Cunningham

The powers of the Energy Act 1976 have been used in relation to petroleum products—for the purpose of controlling the retail price of premium paraffin under section 1(4); for the maintenance of fuel reserves under section 6; to introduce a fuel consumption testing scheme for new passenger cars under section 15; and the orders set out in part III of schedule 4 made under the Fuel and Electricity (Control) Act 1973 restricting the use of fuel for heating premises have been continued in force.
