HC Deb 23 March 1979 vol 964 c129W
Mr. John Ellis

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many nursery schools there are in the constituency of Brigg and Scunthorpe; and what percentage of children can be provided with accommodation.

Miss Margaret Jackson

This information is not collected by my Department. However, I understand from the Humber-side local education authority that there are at present 11 nursery classes attached to primary schools in the Brigg and Scunthorpe constituency, providing a total of 465 full-time equivalent places.

Within the area 80 per cent. of the estimated 4-year-old age group attend primary schools full-time. The nursery classes provide accommodation for approximately 37 per cent. of the 3- and 4-year-old population of the area.
