§ Mr. John Ellisasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many nursery schools there are in the constituency of Brigg and Scunthorpe; and what percentage of children can be provided with accommodation.
§ Miss Margaret JacksonThis information is not collected by my Department. However, I understand from the Humber-side local education authority that there are at present 11 nursery classes attached to primary schools in the Brigg and Scunthorpe constituency, providing a total of 465 full-time equivalent places.
Within the area 80 per cent. of the estimated 4-year-old age group attend primary schools full-time. The nursery classes provide accommodation for approximately 37 per cent. of the 3- and 4-year-old population of the area.
