HC Deb 23 March 1979 vol 964 cc141-2W
Mr. Wm. Ross

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many persons are wholly employed in the Northern Ireland fishing industry; and how many of these persons are known to live in the areas covered by the social security offices in Limavady, Londonderry, Strabane and Omagh.

Mr. Pendry

There are some 540 full-time sea fishermen in Northern Ireland and it is estimated that there are approximately 400 persons fully employed in the freshwater fish industry. I have no record of where these persons reside.
