HC Deb 19 March 1979 vol 964 cc398-9W
Mr. Trotter

asked the Minister of Overseas Development why teachers working in Swaziland have had their salary supplementation payment made by Her Majesty's Government reduced by up to 48 per cent.; how much the maximum reduction will be in the payment made to an individual teacher; and whether in making the reductions regard was had to the teachers' financial commitments.

Mr. Tomlinson

Supplements are reviewed annually as conditions change and vary according to the circumstances of each post. Following the latest review in Swaziland we intend to ensure that no serving officer's take-home pay will be reduced as a result of the changed factors taken account of in the review.
