asked the Prime Minister if he will make a statement outlining the co-ordination for policy with respect to the lead content of petrol referred to in his answer, Official Report, 13 November 1978, column 126.

The Prime Minister

My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trans- port is responsible for regulating the lead content of petrol. In carrying out this function he acts in close consultation with other Ministers concerned, in particular with my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment, who has the general responsibility for co-ordinating action on all aspects of lead and other pollution, and with my right hon. Friends the Secretaries of State for Social Services and for Energy.
