HC Deb 07 March 1979 vol 963 c673W
Mr. Frank Allaun

asked the Attorney-General whether he will consider setting up a publicly accessible register of all land both private and public.

The Solicitor-General

It is to be hoped that a comprehensive register of title to land in accordance with the Land Registration Act 1925 will in due time be completed. Compulsory registration on sale under that Act already extends to areas comprising about 75 per cent. of the population. My noble Friend will consider the question of public access to the register in the light of forthcoming recommendations of the Law Commission.
