HL Deb 06 March 1979 vol 399 c171WA
Baroness HORNSBY-SMITH

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What account is taken of credit terms offered by foreign countries in competition with British firms seeking export contracts, when assessing the duration of credit under ECGD.

Lord JACQUES

ECGD always tries to ensure that the credit terms it offers are competitive with those offered with official support by other countries. Where allegations are made that better terms have been agreed by a competing country, ECGD will make inquiries of the credit insurer in the competing country and, if the allegation is substantiated, will usually match the terms concerned, both over duration of credit and in other respects.
