the figures for Service doctors which I quoted included officers filling posts in hospitals and research establishments and exercising administrative and advisory functions as well as officers with GP responsibilities. Moreover, the defence medical services provide treatment not only for Service personnel but also for their dependants and ordinary NHS patients.
