HC Deb 05 March 1979 vol 963 cc454-5W
Mr. Baker

asked the Secretary of State for Transport whether he will estimate, in the case of each quasi-autonomous nongovernmental organisation for which he is responsible (a) its total expenditure in the current year and (b) its total expenditure on administration, accommodation and general services, defined to include items such as salaries, telephones and postage, rent, rates, heating, travelling, transport, office equipment, &c.

Mr. William Rodgers

The only such organisation for which I am responsible is the National Ports Council, whose total expenditure in the current year is estimated at about £1.3 million. As the council is mainly an advisory body, almost all of its expenditure, apart from £0.5 million on research, is of an administrative nature. The council's annual reports and statements of accounts are laid before Parliament.
