Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether pursuant to his remarks, Official Report, 19 February, column 2, he will list investment projects in the South-East economic planning area by county which have received selective assistance.

The information is not available in precisely the form requested by my hon. Friend. Statistics of Industry Act assistance are not maintained by county or by economic planning area. Instead, they are based upon the Department of Employment's local office areas and the Department of Industry's regional office areas. Whilst these do not not always coincide with economic planing area boundaries, it happens that, by combining my Department's London and South-East and Eastern regional office areas, it is possible to cover the South-East and East Anglia economic planning areas.

Details of all Industry Act Assistance of the types available in the area are published quarterly in Trade and Industry following the first payment to the company concerned. Listed below are details of the assistance provided to companies in the South-East and East Anglia economic planning areas which have been published in Trade and Industry.
