HC Deb 05 March 1979 vol 963 c582W
Mr. Fitt

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many district councils have refused to sign the Fair Employment Declaration; and how many private firms have refused to sign the Fair Employment Declaration.

Mr. Concannon

The signing of the Declaration of Principle and Intent provided for in the Fair Employment (N.I.) Act 1976 is a voluntary action. Seven of the 26 district councils have so far signed the Declaration and 10 have refused. Twenty private firms have declined the Fair Employment Agency's invitation to sign the Declaration.
