§ Mr. Loydenasked the Secretary of State for Industry if the plant and machinery obtained by Dunlop UK through development or other Government grants still remains in the Dunlop UK factories.
§ Mr. Les HuckfieldRegional development grants on plant and machinery are made subject to conditions requiring the grantee to notify the Department if the asset ceases to be used on qualifying premises in a development area. The conditions, which operate for a period of four years, are closely monitored, including regular visits to the premises by the Department's inspectors. If assets cease to be used as required by the conditions, the grant becomes repayable in whole or in part, and recovery of grant is rigorously pursued. These procedures apply to grants made to Dunlop Limited and the Department has no information that the company has failed to meet its obligations under the conditions.
