asked the Secretary of State for Social Services to what extent the personal possessions in money, gold, jewellery, etc. brought in by the Vietnamese immigrants will be taken into account when assessing claims for social security benefits.

In assessing supplementary benefit no account is normally taken of personal possessions; but regard may be had to articles of value if these are held for the purpose of investment.
