HL Deb 19 June 1979 vol 400 cc955-6WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What national subsidies are available for pig slaughterhouses and halls in the Netherlands and Denmark; and whether such assistance is compatible with the Treaty of Rome.

The MINISTER of STATE, MINISTRY of AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES AND FOOD (Earl Ferrers)

I do not have comprehensive information about national aids in other EEC member-States but I understand that in the Netherlands and Denmark projects for the improvement of slaughterhouses have been approved under EEC Regulation 355/77. In order for projects to qualify for approval and therefore for aid from Community funds, member-States must themselves contribute at least 5 per cent. of the capital cost.
