§ Lord O'HAGANasked Her Majesty's Government:
What national subsidies are available for pig slaughterhouses and halls in the Netherlands and Denmark; and whether such assistance is compatible with the Treaty of Rome.
956WA
The MINISTER of STATE, MINISTRY of AGRICULTURE, FISHERIES AND FOOD (Earl Ferrers)I do not have comprehensive information about national aids in other EEC member-States but I understand that in the Netherlands and Denmark projects for the improvement of slaughterhouses have been approved under EEC Regulation 355/77. In order for projects to qualify for approval and therefore for aid from Community funds, member-States must themselves contribute at least 5 per cent. of the capital cost.
