HC Deb 18 June 1979 vol 968 cc383-4W
Mr. Frank R. White

asked the Secretary of State for Industry how many applications for telephone installations are now outstanding in the Manchester North telephone area; and what steps he has taken with the Post Office to secure an early settlement of the present Civil and Public Servants Association (Postal Section) industrial dispute.

Mr. Michael Marshall

I understand that the installation of telephones in Manchester and some other areas is being affected by the industrial action being taken by some members of the CPSA, which I very much regret. The extent of the backlog is a matter for the Post Office. Settlement of the dispute is likewise a matter for the Post Office and the union concerned.
