§ Mr. Peter Robinsonasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what has been the net increase or decrease in the number of policemen serving in the Royal Ulster Constabulary and Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve each year since 1974.
§ Mr. Alison,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 15 June 1979; Vol. 968, c. 357}, gave the following information:

§ Mr. Peter Robinsonasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will give figures for the latest available full year of (a) cost of recruitment advertisements for the Royal Ulster Constabulary and the Royal Ulster Constabulary Reserve, (b) responses to those advertisements, and (c) actual recruitment during that 12.month period.
§ Mr. Alison, pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 15 June 1979; Vol. 968, c. 357], gave the following answer:
During the year ended 31 March 1979 the police authority for Northern Ireland spent a total of £176,000 on press and television advertising in respect of recruitment to the RUC and £16,000 in respect of recruitment to the RUC Reserve. In the same period 3,249 initial enquiries were received for the RUC and 3,639 for the RUC Reserve. 697 recruits were accepted into the RUC and 1,011 into the RUC Reserve.
